The Lake District is in Cumbria in the North West of
England and has excellent road &rail links.
The West Coast main line
passes the edge of the area just outside Kendal, at Oxenholme, with
regular connections to Windermere station.

House is in Windermere and you can use the map & instructions below to find us.
From the South leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow the A591 to Windermere. From the North leave the M6 at Junction 40 and follow the A66 towards Keswick. Travel west for 14 miles. Take the turning on the left, signposted Windermere, which goes through St John's in the Vale and then joins the A591. Follow the A591 through Ambleside until you arrive in Windermere. Once in Windermere follow the one-way system until you come to a pedestrian crossing which is controlled by lights and take the 2nd turning on the left into Ellerthwaite Road. Clifton House is about 300 yards down the road on the right hand side where you will find plenty of on street parking. However you choose to travel to the Lake District you will find it easy to travel round once you are here. Although there is a lot in the area it is not too vast to easily explore. If you have not travelled here by car you need not worry as there is a good bus network which will take you to all of the major tourist destinations or you can always book one of the many day or half tours which cover the area. |
